The Certificate is aimed at graduates (or those with suitable alternative qualifying experience) who wish to secure a recognised legal qualification from a leading UK university but are not necessarily on route to qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister. With the de-regulation of Legal Services enshrined in the Legal Services Act 2007 the offering of legal services will be opened beyond Solicitors and Barristers to those with other legal qualifications and experience. A limited number of 6 reserved legal activities remains the preserve of Solicitors and Barristers but significant opportunities have been opened for others and thus our Certificate in English Law & Business offers improved job and career prospects in the ParaLegal field and for those , such as HR professionals, who use the law in their jobs.

Anglia Ruskin University was awarded university status in 1992. The Institute of Paralegals is the oldest incorporated paralegal representative body in the United Kingdom and the only body representing professional paralegals in the whole of the UK to have been granted Institute status by the UK government supported by the Bar Council, Law Society, Crown Prosecution Service and Citizens Advice Bureau.
